A Helpful Hint
For your comfort, you should wear baby high and snug. The lowest part of your sling or baby carrier should be just below your navel.
Another way to check for proper positioning is to place baby in the carrier and then “hold” him as if he were in your arms. If baby is too low or loose, adjust the carrier, or (in the case of a Hotslings pouch) exchange for a smaller size.

A Sling Connection Story
Around the time my son was 4 months old I had a conversation with Kaysha about the "sling" she used and she told me how comfortable it was and I politely listened and smiled and expected that there is no way it could be more comfortable than my (quality front pack). I humored my friend and tried on her mei tai and INSTANTLY fell in LOVE! I was utterly flabbergasted at how much MORE comfortable it was than ANY carrier I'd ever tried on.
From then on I was able to take walks WITH my son... not push my son around way out in front of me unable to connect with him over the simple things in life, a tree, a dog, the breeze in his face. I was able to comfort him and still get my errands done. In wintertime, armed with my mei tai I was able to keep my son from licking and eating the germ-ridden handles of carts and high chairs!! He was so safe and secure hanging out with mama and I was COMFORTABLE!
My son is not a "hold me" baby. From the time he was tiny, if he'd been held for a few hours he would cry until he was put down. But he would let me wear him in my mei tai! It was clear by his behavior that he enjoyed the comfort of the mei tai. This wonderful sling gave me the chance to be close to my son w/o frustrating him and without hurting my back and shoulders.
Since then we have also found the pouch sling love. :) And when my now toddler goes through phases of separation anxiety or some other emotional tax he will go and get a pouch and bring it to me. As a mama, you know how much that melts your heart!
